I tried to request a hold on a book but top of the screen said "hold denied". Why?

Requested book Acts of Mercy" by Mariah Stewart.

Thanks for asking! It looks like our last copies of Acts of Mercy are no longer in the system - either lost or just plain worn out - so the hold didn't go through because there was no book to attach it to. After a little while the record for Acts of Mercy will stop showing up in the catalog - you just happened to catch it before it disappeared. 

If you're really interested in Acts of Mercy - trying to finish out the Mercy Street series, etc. - you might consider inter-library loan. We can call out to library systems around the country to see if anyone will lend you a copy through us. ILL service comes with a postage charge, but you can weigh it against the cost of a used copy.
