Hi!  We are so happy that your daughter will be a part of this year's Summer Reading Program.

You can sign up for the Summer Reading Program simply by logging into our online catalog system and clicking on the Summer Reading links below the regular blue bar menu.

We've simplified it this year.  There are no more levels, but just one reading goal for each age group.  Kids up through the 6th grade can choose to keep track of reading by either books or hours, depending on their age and reading level.  Teen Summer Reading is for those going into 7th-12th grade.  Adults can join in the fun as well!

For the younger ages we have prize packs that include fun coupons as well as a book that they choose to keep.  And we will be giving away 3 Kindle Fires per branch - one for each age group.  The younger ages are automatically entered when they receive the prize packet, and adults get another entry for each 3 books they add to their Summer Reading Shelf online.

Thanks for your question!

  3. I think I signed up--online for the summer reading program. I did not get a confirmation from OPL. How can I verify that I am signed up.

  4. Please accept our apologies - the information in this question was referring to LAST year's Summer reading Program, which has changed. The answer will soon be edited to reflect the new system using our catalog.

@Ken Knox - You should be able to add books to your Summer Reading shelf under the new system. Log in at and select any item to see if you can add it to the shelf using the link on the right side of the listing.
