What happened to the "Historical Newspapers" link in Newsbank (found in newspaper section of online resources)?

It was available last Friday, but has not been at least yesterday (Sunday).

Thanks for asking! The Library Foundation is still working on fundraising to make the Historic World-Herald a permanent part of our collections - for now, our subscription is in an odd limbo. We have trial access through December of 2014, but for the first few days of most months Newsbank pulls the link down. I'll have our webmaster give them a call; it should be back up and running today or tomorrow.

As the new year turns, we may lose access to the database if the Foundation's fundraising efforts are unsuccessful. Newsbank priced access to the historic World-Herald at $750,000 - it's a one-time payment, but even so, that kind of money takes some scrambling. If you're interested in more information about their fundraising drive, you can find information about the OPLF at

Shoot me an email or give us a call at 402-444-4800 if the link to the database isn't restored by Wednesday, and feel free to get in touch with additional questions. Thanks!
