1970 restaurant in front of richman gordmans on 120th and center
I'm assuming you're looking for the name of the restaurant? I happened to be in the right spot to look at our old city directories, but for this kind of question you may want to call 402-444-4800 or visit the W. Dale Clark library downtown. You can also find some great tidbits of Omaha's past in the historic Omaha World Herald online - we currently have a trial subscription, but it's a lot of fun to look for stories and advertisements from landmarks we remember.
In the 12000 block of West Center road in 1970, there are a couple of properties listed that might be the restaurant you're thinking of near Richman Gordman. "Mr. Steak" was at 12100, and it might have been connected to "Mr. S Family Restaurant" listed at 12323 W Center. There was also a Food City right at 12000 W Center, and the Seahorse Lounge in Suite 206 at 12100.
But if I had to guess I'd probably wager on Mr. Steak. Does that ring a bell?
Thanks for your question - again, feel free to call 402-444-4800 or email back for more information.
