Q

Can you please tell me if you have Morningstar or Duff and Phelps reference books/reports? thanks

I am looking for a financial reference book named SBBI Clasic Yearbook produced by Morningstar, specifically, but also wondering if you have other financial periodicals by Duff and Phelps or Morningstar. Thanks, John

Thanks for asking! I'll tackle your question in a few parts, so bear with me:

On the Morningstar/Ibbotson SBBI Classic Yearbook, Omaha Public Library doesn't have it - the nearest library system that does is the UNO Criss Library at their 60th and Dodge campus, at least up to the 2013 yearbook. They do make their materials available for in-library use by the public, so you're welcome to access the Yearbook there!

We also don't appear to carry any of Duff and Phelps' publications, and for other Morningstar publications we tend to have spotty coverage and little that's current. Several of our libraries carried the Morningstar Mutual Fund newsletter, but once it ceased publication last year we had to look elsewhere for our financial commentary. We do have a handful of investment analysis periodicals, mostly at our Main library downtown, but the best and most current content we have available will be online.

The following two products can be accessed through our Resource Center at omahalibrary.org if the direct links I include don't work. To get into the databases you'll need the 14 digits of your library card number and your 4-digit PIN. Call 402-444-4800 if you have any trouble!

Value Line has become our primary investment research product. After a couple months of trouble when they launched a website redesign, everything should be back in order - if you hit any paywalls, back out, but the library's subscription should cover all of the investment survey, basic analysis, and mutual fund content.

Business Insights: Global also contains some great content for company financials, stock valuation reports, and other company data. It can be a little tricky to navigate, so send an email back if there are particular kinds of information you're looking for and I may be able to provide more specific direction.

Thanks again for your question! Sorry we didn't have exactly what you were after, but I hope that we'll be able to at least support your research needs.
