I have old textbooks, do you take them?

The books are from the 70's and 80's.

Thanks for asking! Generally speaking, the Friends of Omaha Public Library will accept just about any book or media in good condition for their book sale. They've learned not to underestimate potential buyers, and almost anything can find a home. Water damage, mold or mildew, or similar levels of damage are about where the line of "donateable" materials gets drawn.

If the books get a fair shot through the book sale and don't find a buyer, they'll be recycled. Long as you're comfortable with that potential outcome, you can bring the books to any Omaha Public Library location and we'll accept them on behalf of the Friends. You can pick up a donation receipt for income tax reporting, though we leave valuation to your conscience and your tax preparer.

Thanks again for your question! Feel free to follow up here or call 402-444-4800.
