Thanks for your question!

There are numerous historical fiction titles written for elementary students.  A quick subject search can usually give you a list of titles, for instance, the Civil War.  There are also many series, like Dear America, set in different time periods, which work well.  Many authors write historical fiction for children as well, such as Joan Lowery Nixon, who writes for many series, as well as her own original works.  Not all of her work is strictly historical fiction, but the large majority is.

Autobiography, i.e. a person writing their own life's story, is a little harder to find at the juvenile reading level.  Obviously the diary of Anne Frank fits this category, even if it's on the adult shelves.  But most of the time, these authors write their memoirs for adults.

However, there are plenty of juvenile biographies (as opposed to autobiographies) available for younger readers, many more than are easily listed.  The best bet is to search for a famous person in our catalog, and see if they have anything about them in our children's nonfiction section.  There is one popular series that fits this bill:  The Who Was... series, about a wide variety of popular historical and popular figures.

Hopefully this will get you started.  Please let us know if you need more help.
