Answer

Happy to help! While we're hoping that private fundraising will allow us to make it a permanent part of our collection, we do have trial access to the historic Omaha World Herald digital archive for Omaha Public Library library cardholders through December.

If you have an Omaha Public Library card, start from our Resource Center at omahalibrary.org. Under the category "Newspapers, Magazines, and Journals" select "Omaha World-Herald" and click on 'Search.' You'll be prompted for the 14 digits of your library card number. From the splash screen that takes you to, click on "Historic Omaha World-Herald" and you'll reach the primary search interface, where you can search by keyword, set a date range, and so on.

If you don't have an OPL card and you're a resident of Douglas County, or if your library card may have expired, stop by any of the 12 Omaha Public Library locations and bring along a driver's license or other photo ID, and a piece of recent business mail or other proof of address if your ID isn't current. We can create or update your account at no cost beyond the property taxes you're already paying.

If none of the above applies, or if you've tried already and have been unable to access the database, call 402-444-4800 and we'll troubleshoot through the rest with you. Thanks again for your question!
