Hello, I live in Calif. and am wondering whether it's possible to view online back issues of the Omaha World-Herald dating back to 1968. Thanks!

Thanks for asking! Our library currently has a trial subscription to a database that indexes the full history of the World Herald back to the 1870s and has each page fully digitized and searchable. To access our databases, a library membership is required - but especially if you'll be doing some ongoing research, I think it can be a tremendous value. Non-residents are eligible to purchase Omaha Public Library memberships for $25/4mos or $75/year - it's probably easiest to call 402-444-4800 and let us know you're applying for a card at very long distance. Once we've processed the payment we'll get you the account information and you'll be able to jump in and start searching.

If you have specific articles in mind, you may also contact your local library about an inter-library loan request, but if you're just beginning a search I think the Historic OWH is by far the best tool for the job.

Thanks for your question!
