There are 7 charges for blocks on my account. Please explain what a block is and what I can do to avoid fees in the future. What is a block? Why am I being charged, fined?

Answer

A block is a term used to let you know that there is some type of message on your account.  This could mean a fine, that a hold request has come in for you, a specific message from the library, etc. If a book is renewed or returned past its original due date it will trigger an overdue fine.  To avoid late fees in the future you may renew books online, or by phone at 402-444-4100.  You will need your library card number and PIN number to renew.  If you do not know your PIN number, you can always call your local branch to renew.
