I am trying to locate an obituary for William A. Cornell, Jr. born 8.2.1915 and died 2/24/1991 in the Omaha area. I am trying to find his family to let them know his military records and photo album are for sale on Ebay. Is it possible for someone to look up his obituary and send it to me at aehaverkamp@aol.com so I can try and locate his family? Thanks!

Answer

Thank you for your question! Checking our index of Omaha obituaries, it appears that Mr. Cornell's obituary was published in the local Catholic newspaper, the Catholic Voice. Taking a look at our electronic databases, it does not appear that an obit was published in the Omaha World-Herald. Unfortunately, because we only have the Catholic Voice archived in microfilm, the time required to find the obit and the paperwork necessary for the request will be just a bit more complicated.

Per our local research guidelines, please write a quick email with your request to research@omahalibrary.org. Include the information you have already provided and this snippet from the obituary index: CORNELL, William A. (w/Jean); 75; 1 Mar 1991 Catholic Voice p 15. Since your information was precise and accurate, our local history researchers should be able to complete, scan, and send the request for the base cost of $5. Hopefully not a prohibitive amount for an act of good citizenship.

Thanks very much for your question, and I hope your experience with our research department is a positive one. Please follow up here or call 402-444-4800 if you have any questions!
