Why doesn't OPL include Dewey Decimal numbers as a Search guide?

Answer

It is possible to search for Dewey Decimal numbers in our catalog if you use the Advanced Search option.  Look for a link to the Advanced Search right below the blue Search button at the right of the search field.

Then when you are on the Advanced Search screen, look for the list menu right below the big"OR"in the middle of the page.  Change 'Keyword Anywhere' to 'Call Number' as in the picture below.  Then any Dewey Decimal number you enter in the field to the right of that will bring up a list with books cataloged with that Dewey number.

As to the reason it's not an obvious basic search, I'm guessing that not many people (including myself) are Dewey Decimal experts!

I hope this helps.  Thank you for your great question!
