I heard that there is day once a year when all fees can be waived if books are returned. Is this true and if so what is the date?

My mother was supposed to return my three books when I moved out of town. I came back and they were sitting on her coffee table. I don't have the money to pay the late fees right now, but I heard there's a day once a year that you can return books and the fees will be waived. I would like to know if this is true and if so what is that date, thank you.

Thanks for your question.  Unfortunately, the Omaha Public Library doesn't currently have a fine amnesty day and hasn't for quite some time.  If things change we'll be sure to let people know.

  1. I really think this policy should be changed! I have too many fines, so I'm not going to be back at the library. All my books are returned. I think if there was one fine forgiveness day a year it would give people like me to the opportunity to get a fresh start and start using the library again. Please consider having a fine forgiveness day.. many libraries do!
