For the Summer Reading Program, can count hours if I am in seventh grade?

i am going into seventh grade and want to read hours but its making me read books.

It is true that once you are in 7th through 12th Grade, you must now keep track of items you have read and keeping track of hours is no longer an option.  The good news is that instead of having to read ten items per level (like the children's reading club) you only have to read three items.  You can count books, magazines, graphic novels, books on CD, or audiobooks.  Also, books that are over  300 pages count for two books.  If you are reading long books, you might be able to log magazines that you also read to help you achieve completion of the levels.
