I need birth record from Feb. 1939 How do I go about finding that?

Birth certificate not enuf for passport, need Hospital verification. Don't know which hospital.

Thank you for your question.  

That may take some digging to find the right records, if they exist at all.  If you are able to visit one of our branches, you can use our computers to access ancestry.com for free, and they may have birth record information.  This is one of the few web databases you have to be in our libraries to use.

If you were born in Omaha/Eastern Nebraska, you can also check with our genealogy department, located at the W. Dale Clark (Main) library downtown.  They are on the third floor.  If you can't visit, you may want to contact them via email or by calling 402.444.4826.  They also have a form you can fill out on the web.  Please note that there may be a fee to have our staff do the research.  They will let you know if that is the case.

If the birthplace was outside our area, most likely the best option would be to start with the library serving where the person was born.
