Comment: biblio_search_results_issue - My account shows that my Card is due to expire in the next week. What does this mean? How do I obtain a new card? Must I come to the library in person to renew, and if so, do I need any form of address verification etc?

Also, I am trying to renew a book online and it is not allowing me to. A note pops up that the book is on hold. I thought I could renew a book a couple times before returning it......

Answer

Library cards periodically expire. To renew your card go to your nearest Omaha public Library branch and show some current picture ID such as your driver's license. The card will be renewed for 5 years when you do this. If an item has been requested by another patron it is not possible to renew it. The item must be returned. When you renew your card and return the item have the librarian place a hold request for this item for yourself.
