Answer

We use the initials NMN to indicate No Middle Name.  This is in an effort to avoid duplicate records in general. You'd be surprised how many we get!  So we always make an effort to get the middle name and use those letters when we don't.

Those letters will only be displayed to you when you view your account online.  No one else will see them, besides library staff when they help check you out, and they know what those letters stand for.  Leaving it blank might lead to staff asking you again and again for your middle name, and that might get quite annoying - the last thing we want to do!

Thank you for your question.  I hope the reasons why those letters are there makes sense!

Let us know if you have any further concerns.
