If you live in Douglas County, you can get a library card at no cost. We have reciprocal borrowing with Lincoln, NE which means once you get a card at OPL, you can also get one of their cards for free. If you live in Lincoln, Nebraska and have a valid library card, you may qualify for our reciprocal card.  For other Non-Residents, you may get a library card for a fee.

If you do not live in Lincoln, you can purchase a Non Resident family subscription which entitles every household member to their own card for the amount of time purchased:

·         4 Months = $25

·         12 Months = $75

You can apply online HERE.

  1. I moved to Douglas County a year ago from Virginia, I still have my VA driver's license, but I work here and consider myself a NE resident. What process do I have to go through to get a library card?

  2. If you have something else with your NE address, such as a personal check or a utility bill, that will do in place of the driver's licencse.
