Q

What is the length of the check out period for ebooks?

I have an ebook on hold (first time) and know I have to pick it up within 3 days but how long can I keep it?

Answer

eBooks can be checked out for 7 or 14 days.  You can set a default lending period preference by going to our ebook page: http://ebooks.omahalibrary.org, clicking on "Your eAccount", logging in with your library barcode and PIN, and clicking on "Lending Periods".

You will also be able to set the lending period for individual items when you go to "checkout".

If you think you will need the maximum possible time to finish an ebook, 14 days is suggested; however, if you think you will read through the book fairly quickly and will want to be able to check out additional titles as quickly as possible, a 7-day checkout is recommended.  Only 5 titles can be checked out at one time, so a shorter lending period ensures that you will be able to access additional titles in a timely fashion.

Please let us know if you have additional questions!  Thank you!
