Answer

It depends what cemetery you are interested in. Some local cemeteries do have indexes online--for example, Forest Lawn, which is one of the larger cemeteries in Omaha: http://www.forestlawnomaha.com/. The main branch of the Omaha Public Library does have some cemetery records on microfilm--there is a list here. Our research policy is here, and we are always happy to answer questions by phone, email, or postal mail. One very useful cemetery search website for the whole country is http://www.findagrave.com/, which is an enormous collection of volunteer-contributed tombstone transcriptions, often including photographs.

Let us know what cemetery you are looking for, and we will be able to give you more specific suggestions.
