Where do I find a Valley, Douglas, Nebraska obituary?

Hi, I am looking for an obituary for Christopher C. Davison/Davidson, who died in Valley, Douglas, Nebraska on April 8, 1921. I'm not sure where to look to find it. Could you tell me where I could look (newspaper names, etc.) or who I could contact? Or are you able to help me with this request? Thanks so much!!

Answered by e-mail, but possibly this info is useful to others.

We do have a couple of obituary indexes, one on cards in our genealogy room and one online here: , but I did not find your person in either one. We are currently doing a trial of the digitized Omaha World Herald database—I did not find an obituary for him in that either, though the “search” function is never totally dependable; I did not search through that week manually.  If you have an Omaha Public Library card, you can access the trial yourself at

We have the Valley Enterprise on microfilm, Dec. 2, 1892 – Dec. 25, 1947, which would be the best place to find an obituary. Going by the Chronicling America newspaper directory at, it would be the only Valley newspaper available for the date you need--however, I did check and this microfilm (which is the same one owned by the Nebraska State Historical Society) is missing the issues from Jan. to June 1921.  You might like to try checking the Valley Public Library, in case they have some local history resources, or the Waterlook Public Library, since the Waterloo paper covered events in that area as well.

We have a genealogy page here with useful links and information about Omaha Public Library genealogy resources.
