Q

How do I get information about my house and its previous occupants' histories?

I'm looking more specifically for former owners who are now deceased.

A good starting place would be the historical Omaha city directories which are available at our W. Dale Clark (Main) Library.  You would be able to look up your address and see who was living there through the years.  Of course information would vary as to what you could find out about each person after that.

As far as the house itself, quite a bit of information can be found when you look up your address on the Douglas County Assessor's Property Valuation website.  Simply enter your address in the space provided.

Hopefully this will give you a good place to start - thanks for your question.
