Q

In 1934 a Shirley Temple contest was held in Omaha. Can you tell me more about this & where I can find the newspaper article?

A relative said a photo of her sister who received 3rd place in the contest was published in the newspaper, sitting on my father's lap.

Answer

You would probably need to visit the W. Dale Clark branch library at 15th and Douglas streets and look through their microfilm copies of the 1934 Omaha World Herald to find information, aritcles, and any pictures.

If you can't visit in person, we can have our research department search but there will most likely be a fee for the staff time it would require.  If that's the case, please email research@omahalibrary.org with as much complete information as you have on the contest, perhaps including your father's and other relatives' names.  They will let you know of any charges for the research.

Good luck on your search - it sounds like a fascinating piece of family history!
