how do I sign up online
Thanks for asking! To place holds online you'll begin at https://omahalibrary.org/ I'll start with instructions for a desktop computer; if you're mainly working on a mobile device, shoot an email back and I can send more detailed steps for using the mobile version of our website or the MyOPL app.
From most pages in our website, look to the top right corner for a link that says "Log In / MyOPL." If you click on it, it will usually drop down a menu of options. The first should be a green button that says "Log In /Register." Click on that, and it will take you to a prompt for your library card and 4-digit PIN.
Enter the fourteen digits of your library card in the "Username or Barcode" field and your 4-digit PIN in the other. If it's the first time you've used the MyOPL system, you'll be taken through a short series of registration prompts. Once that's done, you'll be ready to search the catalog and place holds to be sent to the library of your choice.
On future visits to our website once you've registered, you'll be able to enter your library card information either before searching the catalog or at the last step in placing a hold.
Note: If you're unsure of your PIN, the best thing to do is visit your neighborhood library with a photo ID. You can also try this PIN reset form, which will send an email confirmation to the email address in your library record.
