Hello: A commenter in Dec. 2017 to the DVD item "Vera - Season 7" says you can use Hoopla and your library card to stream the series online. However, when I go to Hoopla to get that app, it doesn't recognize Omaha as a library system using Hoopla. Can you clarify? Thanks! Stuart

Answer

Thanks for asking! To get the important part of the answer out of the way first, Omaha Public Library does not subscribe to Hoopla. As it stands now, our only streaming and downloadable video collections are those available in Overdrive, which you can skim through here

You've discovered one of the particular quirks of Bibliocommons, the library service provider that manages many of the enhanced features of our online catalog. Bibliocommons provides similar services to libraries across the country; to give themselves a deeper pool of user-generated content they make user comments and feedback visible across their entire network of partner libraries. If you mouse over the usernames of those who have commented on Vera Season 7, you'll see that they come from the Sno-Isle, Fraser Valley, and San Diego Public Libraries... Most of the time it's completely harmless, but once in a while it can lead to misleading information between library systems with different subscriptions.

I apologize for the trouble! Please let us know if you have any additional questions, and thank you for using AskOPL.
