What businesses have been at 6553 ames ave
Thanks for asking! I've surveyed our collection of Omaha City Directories and checked a couple details in our digital archive of the Omaha World-Herald. I can offer a representative sample, but if you're interested in more in-depth research let me encourage you to visit us at the W. Dale Clark Main Library at 215 S 15 St to browse through the directories or try out the OWH archive, which is available through this link with your library card.
The property was built to house Nasr's Restaurant and Lounge, a steakhouse and Lebanese restaurant opened by Dr. Fred and Sally Nasr. It opened in 1966 and had kind of a rocky start due to street and sewer construction, but was quite successful as a restaurant and entertainment venue.
Nasr's remains listed for about 15 years, appearing in 1980 as "New Nasr's" and was replaced by the short-lived Gigi's Golden Spur nightclub in 1981.

Salween Thai is currently active in the 6553 Ames Ave location and has been since 2016. I believe that the recent directory listings may have some errors with previous businesses not being "de-listed" in the directory.
