How do I renew my library card? This card is from the Lincoln City Libraries (where I live) but because Lincoln and Omaha have a recipricol agreement, I have an Omaha Libraries barcode on the front of my card. I am using the card so that I can search for newspaper articles for the Nebraska Legislature (where I work). This arrangement was approved some years ago and I've always been able to renew it over the phone.
The Omaha card allows me to search your databases and obtain material that we otherwise would not be able to get. And I meant to say I live in Lincoln, not in the Lincoln libraries.

Answer

We do have reciprocal borrowing agreements with Lincoln, as well as Ralston and Metro Community College Library systems.  To set up or renew your card as a reciprocal member you will need to come in to your Omaha Public Library branch with current photo and address identification.  After any blocks are cleared from your Omaha Public Library account (overdue books, fines, etc); we will set the card to ID Pending until the Circulation Manager has validated with your home library system (Lincoln in this case) that your account is in good standing.  In order to be in good standing your home library account must be current and must contain no blocks that would limit privileges at your home library system.  It may take a few days to validate the account for full privileges.

Full privileges will be in effect for one year for Lincoln applicants.
