I requested a book called "Disney's Christmas Classics" and was notified that it would be ordered for the library. But I wasn't first in line for it; I ended up fourth. If I requested said item, why am I not first in line for it?

Thanks for asking! The Suggest A Purchase function allows you to track the status of your suggestion, and receive a notification when it is available for request, but given the sheer volume of suggestions that come in our collection development staff cannot and do not offer to add people who have suggested the book to the hold list manually.

Suggestions for purchase help us to know what our users are interested in and build a collection that better meets their needs. Patrons whose suggestions are ordered get free access to the material along with all of our borrowers, and the approval notification still gives a pretty good head start.

Thanks again for using AskOPL! I hope, and expect, that the book will still be ready for you in the Christmas season.
