Will I be charged a fine on a book that was returned on the due date but to a different branch?

I dropped off "Serial Killers & Mass Murderers" to the drop box at the Willa Cather branch on 11-20-17 at approx. 4:30 pm. It was due yesterday, 11-20-17. Will I be charged a fine? On my Library Dashboard it is showing as overdue. I do not think I should be charged as I returned it on the date it was due, just not to the branch where I checked it out.

Thanks for asking!

You should not be charged a fine in this situation.  Willa Cather branch is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so anything returned there on those days is checked in as if it were returned on Saturday.  It probably only showed up as overdue because the staff had not checked it in yet.

Items checked out at any of our 12 branches can always be returned to any other branch.

Thanks again for asking, and thanks for using AskOPL!
