Q

Old Street numbers in Omaha

I have an address for a house on south 24th ave. I cannot find it. I think the address relates to the old numbering system Omaha originally had. Do you have any info or materials that could help me?

Answer

Yes. If you can go to our local history collection at  the W. Dale Clark Main Library on the 3rd floor, we have a colleciton of old street directories. You can look up by address in the street directories. Staff at the desk should be able to assist you with this.

We also have a book called The Streets of Omaha can be borrowed and may have more information on changes in street numbering system.

The numbering may have changed when South Omaha was annexed by Omaha in 1915.
