Q

Is it possible to access the Omaha World Herald database without a library card?

I don't live in Omaha but I am searching for an obituary of a relative who was buried there in 1932. Is there a way to get temporary access so that I could search the papers? Thank you.

Hello. It isn't possible to get "temporary access" to the Omaha World Herald database. I spoke to one of our experts downtown and she told me that you could purchase a 4 month non-resident library card to gain access to the database. She cautioned me however that this has not always provided full access to the database. The issue appears to be that if you are not geographically located in or near the immediate Omaha area the database recognizes this when you log in and limits the ability to view full size images.

If you only need one particular obituary I would recommend emailing our research department at research@omahalibrary.org and placing your request. This fee would only be $5. Thank you for using AskOPL.
