Q

Is there a trick to knowing when a book becomes available as an ebook?

I check every day for certain books, then it's suddenly there but there are already 5-10 holds! Wondering if there's a tick that I'm missing? Or if I just have bad timing with the time of day it becomes available when a new ebook is added to your inventory.

Answer

I apologize for the delay in responding to your question.

We order new materials Monday through Friday. It usually takes an overnight process for the catalog to be updated so early morning is the best time to check.

However, if you are looking specifically for ebooks it is best to check our OPL Overdrive site directly. This is where you select and download the titles, and place holds too. There can be a delay of a few days between when new titles are available on the Overdrive site and when they are available in our catalog. We usually only order new ebook and downloadable audiobooks once a month or so and there is not a set date or time for that.

I hope this helps you.
