Can one library send a book to my local library for me to check out ?

Is there a way to do that online ?

Answer

Yes. Many libraries, including Omaha Public Library, participate in a system called Interlibrary Loan. This means that we borrow materials from other libraries on the behalf of our OPL cardholders. If you have an OPL card you can find out more information about how this works at our Interlibrary Loan page -- included on this page is information about how you can submit a request online.

If you are from outside of Omaha or Douglas County, Nebraska, contact your local library (both public and academic libraries particpate in Interlibrary Loan) to find out if they can help you with this process.
