How do I return an audio book after I'm done with it? I just finished 2nd Chance on Saturday but I still have it on my library list. Seems like I
Thanks for asking! The answer will depend mostly on the platform/device you've downloaded the book on - and honestly, I think the Overdrive Help section is pretty darn good with its instructions: https://help.overdrive.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1481263-how-to-return-titles-before-the-end-of-your-lending-period?b_id=15211
One situation that I know I've run into with customers where there's genuinely no way to return the item early is if they're using the Overdrive App on a Mac desktop computer. For a long time it was also impossible to return audiobooks on iOS devices; I believe that's changed recently but may still be affecting you depending on how they rolled out updates to the app.
If all else fails you can give us a call at 402-444-4800; we can try to help troubleshoot the problem with you, or use an Overdrive support backend we have access to to return the item by brute force.
I definitely understand the desire to keep an item moving along and free up space on your account, but I always like to remind folks that you don't need to do anything to return an item, in case you were worried about that - the item will never be 'overdue', its license will expire, be automatically returned and cleared off your library card when the loan period expires.
Thanks for asking, and thanks for using AskOPL! Feel free to write back with details on your device, and we can try to offer more targeted suggestions, or definitely feel free to give us a call.
