Q

I am looking for a specific article from 1985-1986 on Bellevue West High School long jumper Dewardrick Mack w/pic

I misplaced the article I saved about his long jump achievement and we still have contact so thought it'd be special to get it for him.

Thanks for your question!

It looks like the World Herald published a couple of articles on May 24th and May 27th, 1986, about the State Meet held at Burke High School.  In the articles, they mention a "Dee Dee Mack" - which I'm assuming is Dewardick, and his triple-jump of 46 feet, 1 3/4 inches.

I used our Omaha World Herald database for this information, which you can search and access from home using our Resource Center webpage and your library card.  However for those dates we don't have any pictures digitally archived, so I can't tell if one of those articles has his picture.  But all is not lost!  You can visit our Main Library downtown and print the article and picture from our microfilm archives on the third floor, which will probably set you back a whole 20 cents or so.

Please let me know if there's anything else we can do for you, and thanks again!
