How do I find wedding announcements from 1969 in Omaha World Herald? What other Newspapers from 1969 do you have on microfilm?

You can search the Omaha World Herald Digital Archive from home with your library card, going through the Resource Center tab on the Omaha Public Library website and selecting Newspapers. The direct link is here; you will need to fill in your library barcode number. Probably the best way to search for this is to include the names of the bride and groom as key words and put 1969 in the date field.

You can find a list of the newspapers we have on microfilm here, listed first in alphabetical order and then in chronological order. If the parties were Catholic, you'd probably want to check the True Voice (Catholic newspaper), and if Jewish, the Jewish Press; if African-American, then the Omaha Star.

The only other ones might be the local editions of the Sun, depending where they lived:

South Omaha Sun Dec. 27, 1951 – Aug. 31, 1983
North Omaha Sun Nov. 6, 1958 – Aug. 31, 1983
Dundee and West Omaha Sun Dec. 10, 1959 – Jan. 27, 1972
Benson Sun Apr. 2, 1959 - June 15, 1983

The Daily Record might record the fact that a marriage license was issued.  We also have Douglas County marriage licenses on microfilm from 1857 to 2005.

Keep in mind, too, that not every family put a marriage notice in the paper.

I hope this helps! The library will be open again on Tuesday, if you need more help.
