What does Nexus mean?

I'm currently enrolled in an online MLIS program and I'm taking a LIS Management course. We have been instructed to analyze multiple libraries' strategic plan. I'm looking at OPL's strategic plan, and I'm confused about what Nexus means? Any additional information you think could help me dissect and understand the strategic plan would be helpful!

Thank you for asking this question on AskOPL. Two core ideas in our strategic plan are Long Reach and Nexus. The Nexus is about the library's role as a connector in our community. This is particularly important in our work in community engagement. As library staff go out into the community we try to connect individuals, groups and organizations who may be working on similar issues or strategies. Librarians have long connected people with ideas now part of our role is to connect people with people and help build relationships and a better community.

If you'd like more information about our strategic plan, please contact Micki Dietrich, our Community Engagement Librarian at our Main Library. By email or by phone at 402-444-4800. She would be happy to discuss Omaha Public Library's Strategic Plan with you.

Thanks again for using AskOPL,
