I'm trying to remember the name/author of a children's book. The house in the book was called the "high shackadorum" and there were other funny words to describe everyday items. I believe the author wrote a number of other children's books. My kids (who are now ages 29-44) loved this book!

I did a little searching. I think what your looking for is "Arabella and Mr. Crack: An Old English Tale" by Dick Gackenbach. You can see the book here https://www.amazon.com/Arabella-Mr-Crack-English-Tale/dp/0027357708 to see if it is the correct item. The library does not currently own this title but does have other books by Dick Gackenbach. Thank you for using AskOPL.
