Why are some e-books available for a hold even though the library has no copies. These aren't new books that aren't available yet, just older books that it looks like you had rights to at one time, but not now. Will the library get these books again and how long does it usually take?

Answer

Thank you for asking. Some digital materials are licensed for a specific amount of checkouts and some expire after a certain time period. These titles still show on Overdrive's page on our website to allow you to place a hold, which then alerts our Collection Staff to purchase additional copies. However, if you notice you've been on hold for a long period of time, please contact Omaha Public Library Staff with the title so they can check on it for you.

Thank you for using AskOPL!
