Looking for the history of Westroads mall. Looking for information on the 8 Ltd (or eight limited, not sure of how it was spelled). It was a dance club in the basement of Westroads in the late 70's and 80's.
We are specifically looking for the name of a band that used to play there. If you have any old newspapers from that time that has things to do on the weekends, it might have the name. I would appreciate a listing of any bands of that time as I will know it when I see it.

Answer

Thanks for asking! Looking at our Historic Omaha World Herald archive, it appears that 8 Ltd. was owned and operated by Tony Grieco from December 1969 through May 1979, when the property management group that operated the mall parceled the lower level out for additional retail space.

Skimming through ten years' of articles goes a bit beyond what we can provide, but I invite you to search the archive, which is available from home with your Omaha Public Library card. Keyword searches for "8 Ltd" and Westroads seem to work pretty well. From an initial look, a handful of the many bands to perform at the club include Timberline, Crossroads, Them There Guys, Sonny Flaherty and the Grey Imprints, and the wonderfully named Spider and the Crabs.

Thanks again for using AskOPL!
