How do I register for an OPL account?

Thank you for asking us. 

You can register online on or in person. If you are a resident of Douglas County and have never had a library card before you can fill out this form online: http://omahalibrary.org/my-library/request-library-card

Or you can visit any of our 12 locations. You can check and see if you have a card by bringing a photo ID and something with your current address on it. If you don't have a card, or it needs to be updated, we can do that in just a few minutes.

If you want to register in our catalog you can go to MyOPL.org and click the blue Login/MyOPL button on the upper right. You log in with the 14 numbers of your library card and then the 4 numbers of your PIN. From there you set up a user name, using the first part of your email often works well here and it will show some informatio to confirm. It also just takes a few minutes. You can also stop by any of our branches and staff will be happy to walk you through the process.
