Why the extra sheet of paper when printing? Wasting paper just for an unnecessary receipt

Thanks for asking! Over the years we've tried different solutions to the problems inherent in a shared printer. The blank cover page that prints out with each job isn't so much a receipt as a means to separate different users' print jobs and maintain a basic level of privacy for their documents. Until and unless we have a more technologically advanced solution like print kiosks available, the cover page takes care of those basic needs while giving users the independence of picking up their own prints.

We are certainly aware of the fact that it consumes extra paper, which is why we always have recycling baskets and typically have scratch paper boxes handy where users can deposit cover pages and unwanted prints.

Thanks again for using AskOPL!
