Thanks for asking! I don't believe there's been any intentional shift away from cozy mysteries - we've got incoming orders for current titles from Nancy Atherton, Heather Blake, Rita Mae Brown, Sally Goldenbaum and others. In times of straitened budgets we end up ordering a little less everything, so if you have favorite series or authors that aren't showing up in the catalog feel free to suggest a purchase to keep them on our radar.

I think the more relevant factor in the trend you've noticed is that we've recently had some significant turnover in our collection development team. The work that goes on to select new books, order them, and get them into the catalog may look pretty seamless on the user side, but it's built on a small group of people. People who retire, leave vacancies, do the work of two or three librarians, and need time to train up to speed. I expect that you'll see the lead time on new orders stretch back out to the 2-3 month cushion we're used to gradually.

What search terms do you use to search for cozy romances? Do you have a slate of authors or genre blogs you follow to find forthcoming titles? I do notice that keyword searching "cozy romance" doesn't produce as many recent results, which may indicate a change in cataloging language that is making the search less reliable.

At any rate, thanks for being an enthusiastic genre reader and thank you for using AskOPL!
