Q

Do you have a 1960 Omaha building code?

The catalog shows a 1923 Omaha building code and some amendments for other years, but do you have a 1960 Omaha building code? We need to know the "live load provisions."

Answer

Thank you for asking! Unfortunately, with a few odd exceptions - 1910 and 1923 standalone building codes, a 1941 municipal code that was not updated - our approach to keeping paper copies of the city municipal codes has typically been to insert revisions and discard outdated pages. So while I found a copy of the municipal code in what looked like a 1959 binder, all the code pages inside were from 1976 and 1979 revisions - I have nothing to show the code as enforced in 1960.

Asking around my colleagues, the consensus is that the best bet for finding a complete backfile of the code revisions would be the Omaha City Permits & Inspections division (402-444-5350) or the City Clerk's office (402-444-5550.)

Best of luck with your search and thanks for using AskOPL!
