Hello OPL! Do you still have health insurance/ACA Navigator's providing advice regarding health insurance? Thank you, Stuart
Thank you for asking! After the first couple of enrollment cycles - and once some of the technical and interface issues around Healthcare.gov stabilized - we found that attendance and interest in ACA navigation sessions hosted at the library was dropping off quickly. Nowadays, while we might still assist a patron trying to find their way around Healthcare.gov in the course of normal reference work, we are no longer directly partnering with insurance/ACA navigators.
Our health services subject coordinator has collected a lot of useful information in our Affordable Medical Care & Economic Assistance subject guide. Of particular note is a list of community health centers that do offer or have offered trained application assisters. These service providers would be my first point of referral for a patron looking for ACA help.
We do have some upcoming programs on the basics of Medicare as part of our March/April Retirement Transitions series.
Please feel free to call 402-444-4800 for more information, and thanks again for using AskOPL!
