I had 3 books, 2 were due yesterday - January 30, and 1 is due 2/2. Since my local branch is closed on Sunday and Monday, I drove to the downtown library and put them in the curbside book return at 3 pm. When I looked at my account this morning, only 1 shows as returned and 1 now shows as late. I do not have these books and am concerned as to what happens next.

Answer

Thank you for asking! Each location pulls its bookdrop at specific times in the day - 3PM Sunday may be after the last collection at the downtown library, and when you checked your account this morning I believe it would have been before or just as our first collection was taking place.

Each morning when we process the book drop we back-date the check-in to the last day that the library was open so folks aren't penalized for returning them after hours or between collections - so in future, feel free to return the materials at your neighborhood library's book drop rather than making a special trip!

Please check your account again now that our morning collection should be complete. If there are still materials showing up that shouldn't be there, give us a call at 402-444-4800. We can resolve the issue with a status we call "claim return" and search around for the items.

Thanks for using AskOPL!
