Q

Three e-book titles I have on hold show 0 library copies. Have those titles been taken down from OverDrive?

I put a hold on "The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy," "Cordina's Crown Jewel," and "Command Performance" by Nora Roberts on OverDrive 2-3 weeks ago and it is showing there are 0 library copies. Have the copies been take down from OverDrive? Thanks!

Answer

Thank you for asking! Yes, it appears that those three titles are not currently available in our library's Overdrive collection - or,  our library currently has no licenses for our users to download the books from Overdrive. Every so often publishers will make changes to (or remove) the availability of particular titles - it seems to happen particularly often with the older works of popular authors like Nora Roberts and Stephen King.

It's a common enough occurrence that Overdrive and we leave the record up, despite having 0 copies, so that our users can keep their place in the hold list if we're able to offer the ebooks again. Unfortunately, I can offer no timetable for when or if that might happen - if you don't need the room in your hold list you can just leave them be, or cancel them if they're taking up valuable request space.

Sorry for the inconvenience and the slightly nebulous answer, and thank you for using AskOPL! Please feel free to call 402-444-4800 for further information.
