how do i get a book from an author you don't carry?
If it is a book published in the last two or three years, you can log in at Suggest a Purchase (there is a link at omahalibrary.org, bottom far right of the page) where you can request that the library purchase it for our collection. Once you've put in a request, you can see the status of your purchase requests when you log into your library account.
If it is an older item, or one that OPL is unable or unwilling to purchase for any reason, you could request the item through interlibrary loan--we borrow the item for you from another library system somewhere in the US, but you do have to pay the postage one way. If you are interested in that option, there are more details here.
Let me know if you have questions about either of these options!
