Thank you for asking! It's wonderful to receive an expression of support. The first and most important point of contact will be your City Council representative - by phone, email, or letter they'll be the best person to hear your voice and influence the outcome.

Another very important opportunity to express your opinion is the City Council public hearing on the City of Omaha 2016 budget at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at City Hall (1819 Farnam Street). Just being present will make a difference, but you will also have the chance to speak at that public hearing. You are welcome to prepare remarks in advance and read them. Each speaker is permitted 3 minutes, and is asked to provide their name and address.

If you do plan to contact your City Council member, August 11 is also something of a 'deadline' for public feedback to impact the budgeting process.

If you have additional questions about the 2016 budget, please contact Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees President Mike Meyer (mmeyer@mccarthycapital.com).

And again, thanks so much for using AskOPL!
