I am researching the provenance and history of a painting by Robert Reid [1862-1929] entitled OPAL, circa 1895, oil on canvas, 72 x 36 inches and wish to confirm that it was once in the collection of the Omaha Public Library. Also, what were the dates that the picture was there, and can you tell me if the picture was acquired by purchase or gift. If a purchase, from whom was it acquired, and if a gift, who was the patron donor? Thank you for any assistance that you might be able to offer. Cordially, John Driscoll, PhD.

Answer

I would call the Main Library at 402-444-4800 and ask to speak to either Martha or Lynn. They are very familiar with items of this type in our collection.
